Things I like about winter (+ a short rant)

Hot-water-bottle-cover

An incomplete list of things I like about winter that I could think of. (I like many of these things during other seasons).

  1. The amazing heater I bought during dark and most freezing days of last winter
  2. Layering clothes
  3. Finding clothes in the back of your wardrobe you forgot you had, but love
  4. Woolen socks
  5. Coloured and patterned tights*
  6. Lemon toddys (lemon, ginger, honey amazingness)
  7. MySky – a winter lifeline
  8. Homemade soup
  9. Feeling self-righteous about my homemade soup
  10. Reading books in bed
  11. Fireplaces
  12. Hot water bottles
  13. Mulled wine
  14. Bubble baths
  15. Leg warmers
  16. Pies
  17. Roast dinners
  18. Really comfortable trackpants
  19. Long dinners with friends
  20. Cups of tea

What are your winter faves?

*I DO NOT LIKE THAT I HAVE SPENT WAY TOO MUCH MONEY ON OPAQUE TIGHTS THIS YEAR DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE CURRENT MANUFACTURING TECHNIQUE APPEARS TO BE TO MAKE THEM NON-DURABLE SO THAT WE HAVE TO BUY MORE. HAVING THREE PAIRS RIP DURING THE FIRST WEAR IN LESS THAN A WEEK IS NOT OKAY. BAD MANUFACTURERS. IS IT A CONSPIRACY?

Dear NZ Television Programmers. RE: New Girl

Dear NZ Television Programmers

I’d even watch all the adverts with the sound turned on if you’d buy this show. It has just picked up by FOX and features one half of awesome band She & Him Zooey Deschanel. She’s also in movies, like 500 Days of Summer and Elf. Not Alf, Elf. She’s awesome.

TV3, you could play it just before Bones and do a promo all about sisterhood! Or TVNZ, you should just buy it because I WANT YOU TO!

Sincerely,

Josie

Gallery: Breakfast at Tiffany’s at the Academy Cinemas

Thank you to all the lovely people who donned their glad rags and came along to our screening of Breakfast at Tiffany’s tonight. The idea started because Shahlin and I wanted to see the film on the big screen and thanks to John and the team at Academy Cinemas, we were able to do so in the company of our friends and other Audrey Hepburn fans.

Thanks to our wonderful style judge Sara Tetro, who added an extra touch of magic to the evening.

Here are some of the photos I snapped as people were arriving. Sorry if I missed you – and thanks for being such great sports.

If you missed out, there are three more chances to see a print of Breakfast at Tiffany’s on the big screen over the next couple of weeks. If you love the movie on the small screen, this will gladden your heart. Info at: http://www.iconiccinemas.co.nz/movies/4780.php.

Happy birthday Audrey Hepburn. You were more than a style icon and a delightful actress. You were a survivor, a humanitarian and fifty years on this film is still a treasure.
