One of the last things I did in LA was visit CBS (as one of their own gags said, the C stands for Classy, and the BS stands for…) to attend a taping of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. This is the show that’s on after the Late Show with David Letterman and it is FUNNY AS BRO.
It was a great time because thanks to the lovely local Carol Ramos who I had a fabulous day with, I was treated to a behind the scenes view of the show. We hung out in the green room with wine, nibbles and the chance to meet some of the team who put the show together including the head writer who said (of course) that he loves the Flight of the Conchords.
Craig Ferguson is a very clever man who starts the show with audience baiting and a monologue on anything he likes. He has a robot skeleton sidekick and he has everyone, and I mean EVERYONE on the show. I was pretty excited about being in the same room as God, I mean Morgan Freeman, while he was being interviewed. Would LOVE this show to come to New Zealand. Craig is Scottish and sarcastic and I think his humour would go down really well in New Zealand.
Here’s a taste of Craig’s madcap humour, with two fabulous audience members briefly in shot. This is the most American TV I’ve been on since that episode of Ricki Lake I asked a question on in 1999.
This was our lovely gondolier at The Venetian. He was such a nice guy and his choir (which his father is the leader of) has performed with Andrea Bocelli. The gondola ride was average to nice before he burst into song, then it went straight to awesome.
Here’s a very amateur video from my point and shoot digital camera of the Bellagio Fountains. It is seriously just amazing. I could never get bored of them and they’re even more astonishingly delicious especially when accompanied by a four course dinner at Picasso. Happiness.
